Mercer's Order of Omega will hold its annual Greek Week celebration on the Macon campus this week. The week includes a number of coordinated events to bring together the Greek community and each Greek organization will compete to earn points and be crowned winners of 2013 Greek Week.
The week kicks off Greek Grillers on the University Center patio. Greek organizations will set up at 5:30 p.m. and cook hamburgers, hot dogs and sides, beginning at 6 p.m. Greeks and non-Greek students are welcome to attend this event and food is free. Following Greek Grillers will be the Greek Week Philanthropy Night at The Hummingbird Stage and Taproom beginning at 10 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to donate to support Relay for Life.
Tuesday will feature A Restaurant Cache in downtown Macon and a Pan-Hellenic Late Night Breakfast. The Restaurant Cache begins in gazebo of Tattnall Square Park at 5 p.m. Caching is a competitive restaurant crawl in which five-person teams from each Greek organization will run to five restaurants downtown, where they must consume a food item and non-alcoholic beverage. Teams will be awarded points based on how quickly the complete the cache and return to Tattnall Square Park. Following the restaurant crawl there will be the Panhellenic Council Late Night Breakfast from 8 to 10 p.m., hot breakfast and pastries. All students are welcome, tickets $3 in advance and $5 at the door, with proceeds going to benefit Crisis Line and Safe House of Middle Georgia.
Wednesday will feature the Sexual Assault, Hazing, and Alcohol Prevention Education (SHAPE) Carnival from 5 to 7 p.m. on the Historic Quad. To earn points, members of Greek organizations must attend and complete an activity card.
Greek Week will end with the final competition of Greek Games on the Medical School lawn at 5 p.m. Greek members will compete in a number of different games to earn points. The event will conclude with announcement of the winning organizations based on participation in Greek Week.
