ATLANTA – Mercer University's 2014-2015 Executive Forum, presented by BB&T, continues Nov. 13 with Frank Bisignano, chairman and CEO of First Data Corporation.
Bisignano will give an 8 a.m. breakfast presentation in the Trustees Dining Room on the Cecil B. Day Graduate and Professional Campus in Atlanta. The presentation, open to Executive Forum members and invited guests, is titled "There's a Great Future in Plastics – Mr. McGuire to Benjamin Braddock in 1967's 'The Graduate'; From Credit Cards to Apple Pay and Beyond: Transforming First Data, a Great American Business."
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Bisignano joined First Data Corporation as chief executive officer in April 2013. He was named chairman of the board in March 2014. Upon his arrival at First Data, Bisignano began to rapidly transform the 43-year-old company from a traditional payment processor into a technology innovator and business solutions provider helping its millions of merchant clients and thousands of financial institution clients succeed.
Prior to joining First Data, Bisignano was the co-chief operating officer for JPMorgan Chase and the CEO of mortgage banking at JP Morgan Chase. As co-chief operating officer, his responsibilities included overseeing global technology, real estate, operations, procurement, compliance, regulatory control and oversight, resiliency, security and safety, and general services for all of JP Morgan Chase's businesses in more than 60 countries.
Earlier in his career, Bisignano was the chief executive officer for Citigroup's global transactions services business and a member of Citigroup's management committee. He was also the chief administrative officer for Citigroup's corporate and investment bank and Citigroup's firm-wide deputy head of technology and operations, a post he held during 9/11, when he managed a successful business continuity plan that involved relocating 16,000 employees displaced by the loss of 1.3 million square feet when the 7 World Trade Center building was destroyed.
Previously, Bisignano worked at First Fidelity Bank, from 1990 to 1994, where he was an executive vice president overseeing technology and operations, and later served as chief consumer lending officer.
"Mercer is very proud to partner with BB&T to bring Frank Bisignano to the Atlanta business community and to our students. Mr. Bisignano, as the leader of First Data, is facing disruptive innovation in the credit card payment industry with innovation and leadership. I am certain that his journey and his vision will serve as an excellent example of entrepreneurial leadership in action," said. Dr. Susan P. Gilbert, dean of Mercer's Stetson School of Business and Economics.
Bisignano serves on the board of the National September 11 Memorial and Museum and on the Board of Trustees of the Mount Sinai Health System. He is also a trustee for the Battery Conservancy and St. Patrick's Cathedral. He is married with three children.
