Mercer University Habitat Chapter to Host Sixth Annual Faculty Luncheon

Mercer University Habitat Chapter to Host Sixth Annual Faculty Luncheon

February 21, 2014

MACON – Members of the Mercer University Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter will host the sixth annual Mercer University Build Faculty and Staff Benefit Luncheon on Wednesday, noon-1 p.m., in Penfield Hall.

The lunch has two goals: first, to increase awareness of the chapter's work with Macon Area Habitat for Humanity among the Mercer faculty, staff and student community; and, second, to raise funds for the annual "Mercer Build" house.

According to chapter adviser David Goode, the luncheon has been endorsed by the administration because it is a unique service-learning opportunity for students to not only provide financial support to this build, but also to gain invaluable construction, leadership and organizational skills that will stand them in good stead as they continue in their chosen career tracks.

The luncheon will be sponsored by Five Star Travels, Mercer University Catering, and State Farm Independent Agents and Macon Habitat partners Gary Dunagan and Pat Patterson.

Faculty and staff planning to attend this event should e-mail Macon Area Habitat for Humanity at to make a reservation by Monday, Feb. 23. If you are unable to attend but would like to help financially, visit, click on the "Make Your Donation Here" button and designate your donation to the 2014 Mercer Build. Donations can also be mailed to Macon Area Habitat for Humanity, 690 Holt Avenue, Macon, GA 31204. Please note 2014 Mercer Build.

Since the late 1990s, Mercer and its campus chapter have partnered with Macon Area Habitat, First Baptist Church and Highland Hills Baptist Church annually to jointly construct 13 decent and affordable homes with deserving Macon-Bibb County families.
