MACON – Mercer University’s online Master of Science in Technical Communication Management was recently ranked by OnlineMasters.com at No. 9 among the 40 Best Online Master’s in Communication Programs in the country.

OnlineMasters.com conducted dozens of hours of research analyzing every online master’s degree program in communication in the U.S. while consulting 34 industry experts, hiring managers, current students and alumni. The website’s ranking methodology takes into account academic quality (40 percent), student success (40 percent) and affordability (20 percent).

Mercer’s ninth-place finish placed it between Johns Hopkins University at No. 8 and Northern Arizona University at No. 10.

“Mercer University offers an affordable master’s in communication program for full- and part-time students who want to earn their degree online,” the website’s profile reads. “With an innovative online learning system, professional faculty support and numerous student-aid options, Mercer is a good value for students looking to maximize their commitment to an online program.”

The M.S. in Technical Communication Management, offered within the School of Engineering, strives to prepare students for technical fields while career-applicable projects offer students opportunities to gain further experience in industry while earning their degrees. The distance learning structure of the program allows practicing professionals across the globe to collaborate and learn from a diverse set of colleagues as well as offers them the flexibility to complete the degree at their convenience.

Earlier this year, the program was ranked No. 4 among SR Education Group’s 25 Best Online College for a Master’s in Communications.

“Mercer’s Master of Science in Technical Communication Management returns value to students’ workplaces immediately as students often select projects that benefit their organizations. Many student projects evolve into larger initiatives within those organizations with significant ROI. Another unique feature of this program is that students must meet with their classes online one evening per week. These synchronous meetings build a tremendously effective learning experience among professors and students,” said Dr. Pam Estes Brewer, associate professor and director of the M.S. in Technical Communication Management.
