The Mercer Law School has been ranked 11th nationally by the National Jurist magazine on its “Technology Honor Roll.” In its January 2005 issue, the magazine ranked Mercer 11th among the nation’s 190 American Bar Association-accredited law schools for its use of technology.
The publication annually rates more than 100 ABA-accredited law schools for their use of technology, including factors such as whether students are required to own laptops, have a computer exam option, have access to a wireless network and have access to a technological courtroom.
Mercer’s ranking by the National Jurist was higher than any other accredited law school in Georgia.
Law School Dean Daisy Floyd said the ranking provides evidence of two positive facts about technology at the Walter F. George School of Law. “First, it’s wonderful to see that the hard work and resources that have gone in to establish our technology resources at the Law School are being recognized on a national level. Second, to have these technical resources available for the students is important for a number of reasons – they enhance the teaching used in the classroom, they help with communication within the Law School and help to create an educational community that we’re working towards, and they prepare students for the demands to practice law.”
Earlier this academic year, the Mercer Law School was recognized for having the best bar passage rate among all of Georgia’s law schools on their first attempt in July 2004. The faculty was ranked seventh in the nation by The Princeton Review on its top 10 list “Faculty Rocks (Legally Speaking).”
