ATLANTA – Gregory Scott Newton of Mableton received the top student honor for Mercer University business students in Atlanta at commencement on Saturday, May 21.
Mercer University President R. Kirby Godsey presented Newton with the 2005 Aprile M. Holland Outstanding Student Award. Newton graduated summa cum laude from the Eugene W. Stetson School of Business and Economics with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Newton was on both the President’s List and the Dean’s List at Mercer for six consecutive semesters.
Currently a staff auditor with the Georgia State Department of Audits and Accounts, Newton was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.

The Aprile M. Holland Outstanding Student Award is the highest scholastic honor offered by the Eugene W. Stetson School of Business and Economics in Atlanta and is given in honor of the founding dean of the school.
