ATLANTA — Mercer University will offer a workshop entitled “Group Techniques for Career Counseling” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, at its Cecil B. Day Graduate and Professional Campus, 3001 Mercer University Drive.
The workshop is open to licensed professional counselors, career counselors and college students studying counseling. Registration is $70 for counselors and $25 for students before Nov. 4 and $80 thereafter. Co-sponsored by the Georgia Career Development Association (GCDA), the program provides up to six National Board of Career Counselors continuing education units for career counselors and 5.5 CEUs from the Licensed Professional Counseling Association for licensed professional counselors.
The workshop will be facilitated by Bonnie Bailey, a communications consultant and trainer with expertise in career management, leadership, team-building and customer service programs. Bailey has developed and delivered training programs for Lee Hecht Harrison, a global career management services company, as well as has taught college courses in presentation skills. Additionally, she has facilitated numerous leadership and team-building programs, and has spoken on the use of assessment tools in the workplace.
This interactive session will provide an overview of the most productive and effective job search techniques and offer creative tips for facilitating group delivery of career planning assistance, which is become increasingly used in the corporate setting.
The workshop will share concepts that can be used immediately to create an effective group career counseling program, manage a group career counseling session and engage diverse age levels with games and exercises that tactically address the key components of career decision-making and job search.
