The Grassmann Lecture Series was established by E.J. Grassmann, the owner of Georgia Kaolin Company in Dry Branch, Ga., and American Industrial Clays in Deepstep, Ga. Grassmann had strong interests in the environment and rural health care, and was especially concerned with silicosis of the lung caused by clay dust.
