DULUTH, Ga. — United States Sen. Johnny Isakson will offer “A View from Washington” at Mercer University’s Executive Forum lunch program at 12 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, at The Gwinnett Center, 6400 Sugarloaf Parkway, Duluth.

Sen. Isakson has been one of Georgia’s most prominent public servants for nearly three decades. Now completing his first year of service as a United States Senator, he brought vast experience to his office, having served three terms in the United State House of Representatives, 17 years in Georgia’s General Assembly and three years as the chairman of Georgia’s Board of Education.

Sen. Isakson serves on four Senate committees that have jurisdiction over education, health care, transportation, environment, ports, veterans’ affairs, jobs and small businesses.

During his tenure in the U.S. House (1999-2005), he worked with the Republican leadership to pass President Bush’s 2001 tax relief package, to strengthen the Armed Forces and to create the new Department of Homeland Security. Co-sponsor of the Balanced Budget Resolution, he was an original author of the President’s No Child Left Behind Act. He worked to enhance and maintain Georgia’s roads, while also pursuing mass transit alternatives to reduce congestion and improve air quality. He continues to work on these critical issues in the Senate.

Now in its 26th year, The Executive Forum is a business outreach program of Mercer University’s Eugene W. Stetson School of Business and Economics and the Office of Advancement. The Executive Forum provides business professionals with an opportunity to hear nationally noted speakers while networking with other business leaders.

The event is open to The Executive Forum members and their guests. For membership information, call Mercer’s Office of University Advancement at (800) 837-2911.
