Big Auction is Thursday at The Grand Opera House

MACON, Ga. – Mercer’s 21st annual “Big Auction” to benefit the Bears’ athletics program will be held at the Grand Opera House, Thursday, May 28.

Silent items will be up for bid from noon until 7 p.m., with live items going on the block at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.

This year’s auction will again feature a “reverse raffle” with a $10,000 cash prize going to the winner. Tickets for the raffle are $100 each and are on sale now – only 300 tickets will be sold. Each ticket stub from the raffle will admit two people to the hospitality area.

Numerous outstanding items will be up for bid, including a 50 inch plasma television, trips to Mexico, Hilton Head, St. Simon’s Island and weeklong stays at Tybee Island, a rustic cabin in North Carolina and other exciting destinations. Sports memorabilia like a baseball signed by the Atlanta Braves’ Jeff Francouer, an autographed and framed photo of Hall of Famer Phil Niekro and a Mark Richt autographed photo. Rounds of golf at nationally-recognized courses throughout the Southeast are also part if the live auction. The silent auction features items such as ticket packages to the Georgia National Fair, selected Braves games, selected Mercer summer camps and tickets to the Falcons-Redskins football game at the Georgia Dome on Nov. 8. .
