MACON — Mercer University Provost Wallace L. Daniel has announced the appointment of a search committee to lead the process of recommending a dean for the Walter F. George School of Law to succeed Daisy Hurst Floyd. Dean Floyd, who has led Mercer Law School since 2004, announced in September her intention to step down as dean at the end of the current academic year to become University Professor of Law and Ethical Formation following a sabbatical.
Mercer Law Professor James Fleissner will chair the search committee. Other search committee members include Anthony Baldwin, professor of law; Linda Berger, professor of law; Suzanne Cassidy, professor of law and director of Mercer’s Furman Smith Law Library; Frank C. Jones, a 1950 Mercer law graduate and of counsel at Macon law firm Jones, Cork & Miller; Patrick Longan, William Augustus Bootle Chair in Ethics at Mercer Law School; the Honorable Yvette Miller, a graduate of Mercer’s College of Liberal Arts and Mercer Law School and chief judge of Georgia Court of Appeals; Katie Phelps, a 1991 Mercer law graduate, Atlanta attorney and member of the Law School Board of Visitors; and Life Trustee Robert L. Steed, a graduate of Mercer’s College of Liberal Arts and Law School, retired partner with Atlanta law firm King & Spalding, and a trustee of the Woodruff Trust.
