MACON – Mercer University’s Art Department is featuring the multimedia work of Katina Bitsicas in the Frances Sewell Plunkett Gallery throughout October.

The opening of her exhibition, Revive, will be celebrated with a reception and gallery talk Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. in the gallery, located in Hardman Hall.

Revive, available on display through Oct. 31, features multimedia works that express the themes of life, afterlife and regeneration.

Bitsicas is a new media artist currently serving as program director and assistant professor of digital storytelling at the University of Missouri. She earned her undergraduate degree from Kalamazoo College, post-baccalaureate from Studio Arts College International in Florence, Italy, and Master of Fine Arts from the University of South Florida.

She utilizes video, photography and performance in her art work to explore the effects of crime, traumatic personal events and architectural containments on the human psyche. She has exhibited in numerous galleries, museums and festivals both nationally and internationally.
