Mercer Accepting Donations for Salvation Army Hurricane Relief Effort

589

MACON – Mercer University students, faculty, staff and administration are responding to the immediate needs created by the recent hurricanes in Texas and Florida, specifically the urgent need for toiletries and money to care for the thousands of people who have been forced to flee their homes.

Beginning today, Mercer students are collecting the following items requested by the Salvation Army for use in local shelters: shampoo, conditioner, toilet paper, soap, bottled water, paper towels, toothpaste, detergent, bleach, Windex, serving gloves, toothbrushes, blankets, sheets and pillows. All items must be in new condition.

Collections boxes for these items will be located in the lobby of Connell Student Center at the MerServe office, as well as at entrances to Five Star Stadium prior to Saturday's football game versus Wofford, where items will be collected from 2:30-4:30 p.m.

Funds for the Salvation Army can also be sent to the University Minister's office in Newton Chapel. For more information, call (478) 301-2491.
