ATLANTA – Dr. Nora Beth Collier, clinical assistant professor of physical therapy in Mercer University’s College of Health Professions, was recently selected as an American Physical Therapy Association Emerging Leader.

Recognition as an emerging leader requires exemplary service to the American Physical Therapy Association, state chapter of the association and the physical therapy profession within an individual’s first 10 years of practice.

Dr. Collier is one of 22 emerging leaders recognized in 2018. This year, she completed her second term as vice president of the Physical Therapy Association of Georgia, during which she dramatically improved the quality of the association’s annual conference leading to a substantial increase in engagement of membership at the conference. Her leadership activities also included mentoring physical therapists in Guatemala and Nairobi, Kenya.

“We are very proud of Dr. Collier’s accomplishments and have long recognized her contributions and leadership within the profession,” said Dr. Jeannette Anderson, chair of the Department of Physical Therapy. “We are pleased that she has been recognized by our state and national organizations.”

Dr. Collier joined the College of Health Professions in 2015 and serves as director of the Anatomy Laboratory. She teaches within the Doctor of Physical Therapy program and the post-professional Residency in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy program.

She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2009 from Georgia State University and completed a post-professional Residency in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy at Mercer.

She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists.
