MACON – Dr. Susan Codone, associate professor of technical communication in Mercer University’s School of Engineering and director of Mercer’s Center for Teaching and Learning, has been recommended to join the Fulbright Specialist Roster.

This is an honor that recognizes her professional skills in media development and technical communication as well as her personal commitment to helping others succeed,” said Dr. Wade H. Shaw, dean and Kaolin Chair of Engineering at Mercer. “I know that she will enjoy this new role and expand her service to a global scope. Along the way she will represent Mercer well and ‘Be the Bear.'”
The Fulbright Specialist Program is the short-term arm of the Fulbright Scholar Program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) and the Institute of International Education’s Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES).
As a candidate on the Fulbright Specialist Roster, Dr. Codone is eligible to be matched with incoming project requests from overseas academic institutions for Fulbright Specialists and will be considered for project requests that require her expertise.
Fulbright Specialists serve short-term assignments between two and six weeks at overseas colleges and universities.
“Becoming a Fulbright Specialist will allow me to serve internationally on behalf of Mercer and the Fulbright Program. I am honored by the recommendation to the Fulbright Specialist Roster,” said Dr. Codone, who will remain on the roster through 2020.
Dr. Codone has served on the School of Engineering faculty since 2002 and as director of the Center for Teaching and Learning since 2014. She was a 2014 Georgia Governor’s Teaching Fellow.
She earned her Ph.D. in instructional design and development from the University of South Alabama in 2000.
Her research interests include the scholarship of teaching, professional communication, and instructional design and technology.
