MACON – Mercer University’s Robert McDuffie Center for Strings within the Townsend School of Music will present a special guest in its Feb. 9 Fabian concert, part of the 2020-2021 series titled “Chamber Music Greats.” World-renowned violinist and Center founder Robert McDuffie will join faculty and visiting artists onstage in a special guest appearance for the 7:30 p.m. concert.

Presented at The Grand Opera House, this concert has been adapting and evolving in recent days. In honor of Valentine’s Day this month, the program will feature the romantic masterpieces of Brahms, Clara Schumann, and Dohnanyi.

Along with McDuffie, Center director and violinist Amy Schwartz Moretti will welcome back pianist Elizabeth Pridgen as well as two new artists to the Fabian Concert Series, cellist Charae Krueger and violist Yinzi Kong. “It will be an inspired night of beautiful, romantic music,” noted Moretti on the upcoming performance.

Adjusting to the new normal of 2020-2021, the Fabian Concert Series 13th Anniversary Season has all concerts taking place at The Grand Opera House in downtown Macon, where health and safety concerns have been addressed with new guidelines that include socially-distanced seating, increased sanitation, required face coverings, and temperature checks.

Tickets are $15 per person or free with Mercer student/faculty/staff ID or any valid student ID. Single tickets will be available prior to each performance. Call (478) 301-5470 for more information.
