MACON – Mercer University and the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) recently signed a new transfer articulation agreement through 2020.

“Everyone majors in changing the world at Mercer, and many of our graduates are making great strides within our communities. Through the continuation of this second decade of partnership, Mercer and TCSG are providing greater access to education throughout the state of Georgia,” said Dr. Penny Elkins, senior vice president for enrollment management.

“This agreement with Mercer University gives students at our technical colleges more opportunities to pursue their desired career,” said Matt Arthur, deputy commissioner of the Technical College System of Georgia. “We are pleased to partner with Mercer to renew this agreement, which streamlines the process of transferring credits and enables students to fully achieve their educational and career goals.”

Under the terms of the agreement, an undergraduate student may first attend one of the 22 SACS- accredited TCSG institutions to complete an associate's degree and then transfer to Mercer's Penfield College, Tift College of Education and/or Stetson School of Business and Economics to complete a bachelor's degree offered online or at the University's three Metro Atlanta area Regional Academic Centers.

“The quality of students entering Mercer from TCSG institutions continues to be impressive. I am delighted that we are building this relationship by adding new degrees as we attract ever more outstanding students into our programs,” said Dr. Priscilla Danheiser, dean of Penfield College.

These students are eligible to pursue bachelor's degrees from Mercer in the areas of business administration, communication, criminal justice leadership, early childhood/special education, early learning and development, healthcare leadership, homeland security and emergency management, human resources administration and development, human services, informatics, liberal studies, middle grades education, organizational leadership, and psychology.

Representatives of Mercer and the Technical College System of Georgia gathered on the University's Macon campus on Sept. 13 for a formal signing of the agreement.
