Students Reach Quarterfinals at Charleston School of Law National Moot Court Competition

Mercer Law sent two moot court teams to compete in the Charleston School of Law National Moot Court Competition on March 3-4, 2018. The second-year team of Caroline Scalf and Leesa Guarnotta advanced to the quarterfinals, beating Emory, Florida State and Barry University.

The team of second-year students, Matt White and Stef Ramirez, dominated in the first two rounds against Southern Illinois and Cincinnati and was narrowly defeated in the third round to Oklahoma.

Professor Monica Roudil and third-year student Sara Witherspoon coached the teams. “Words cannot describe how very proud I am of these four students. They put in many hours of hard work to prepare for the competition and it showed throughout the competition,” said Roudil. “It was my utmost pleasure getting to see these advocates take Charleston by storm and with this being their first competition, the sky is truly the limit!”
