MACON – Mercer University and the Townsend School of Music are proud to announce a gala concert Feb. 19 at 8 p.m. at New York City's revered Carnegie Hall. The Mercer University Choir and Robert McDuffie Center for Strings Ensemble will present solo works with a variety of musical pieces tailored to their strengths and experience.

“We are very excited that our students are going to have the opportunity to perform in one of the greatest concert venues in the world,” said Dr. David Keith, dean of The Townsend School of Music. “This will further help to distinguish the Townsend School of Music as one of the premiere programs in the nation.”

In a joyous final conclusion, both the choir and orchestra will play together in a combined performance of John Rutter's Requiem.

Tickets can be purchased online here, or by calling (212) 247-7800.

In addition to the Carnegie Hall concert, the Townsend School of Music will present a special concert at the famed Steinway Hall on Feb. 17.

“This will further acquaint the New York audience with the talented musicians and faculty at Mercer,” said Dr. Keith.

Performers will include the McDuffie Center String Ensemble with Amy Schwartz Moretti, director, and the Mercer Singers, with Dr. Stanley L. Roberts, conductor.
