MACON – Mercer University's Townsend School of Music presents several concerts and recitals to usher in the holiday season. This year, Townsend celebrates the 10th anniversary of its Mercer Children's Choir and the 20th annual performance of the Mercer Singers holiday favorite “Nine Lessons and Carols.” All events are open to the public.
Dec. 4
Mercer University Flute Choir: Festive Flutes featuring Kelly Via, conductor
Mercer's award-winning Flute Choir performs holiday favorites on Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m. in Fickling Hall. Admission is free and open to the public.
Dec. 5-6
Mercer Singers: Lessons & Carols featuring Dr. Stanley L. Roberts, conductor; Jack Mitchener, organist
Over 100 musicians are featured in this annual holiday favorite. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Mercer Singers' “Lessons and Carols” in Macon, and in response to its popularity, it will be presented two nights; Dec. 5-6 at 7:30 p.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 830 Poplar St. Admission is free and open to the public.

Choral Society of Middle Georgia: Handel's Messiah featuring Stanley L. Roberts, conductor
This favorite holiday event continues a long-standing tradition in our community. Join us to hear why Handel's Messiah is so popular around the world, on Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 830 Poplar St. Tickets to this event cost $10 each.

Mercer University Children's Choir: Sing and Rejoice! featuring Richard Kosowski, conductor; LeAnn Murphy, assistant conductor
The angelic voices of the Mercer University Children's Choir sing in the season of rejoicing. MUCC begins its 10th anniversary celebration in this joyous concert featuring music and readings for the Christmas season. This event will take place at 2 p.m. in Mulberry Street United Methodist Church, 719 Mulberry St. Tickets to this concert cost $10 each.
